England sealed a memorable come-from-behind series victory over Australia after they won 21-17 at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday.
We take a look at the player ratings of the team - and who underperformed in the eyes of the rugby scribes. Some we agree with - other we don't
#1. Danny Care
Age: 35
Position: Scrum-half
A disappointing tour culminated with the playmaker replaced before half-time in the third test. With Ben Youngs back in contention in the Autumn, will Care get another chance to impress? Probably not. This was Care's last shot (possibly ever in an England shirt) at impressing ahead of the Rugby World Cup next year.
Telegraph 4/10: "Charged down 20 seconds in by Frost but box-kicking improved. Koroibete thundered through him on one run and after 37 minutes Eddie Jones had enough, hooking him with no injury."
Inews 4/10: "Brutally hooked after 36 minutes for Jack van Poortvliet but it was hard to argue with Jones’ reasoning given the veteran’s poor first half, when he had his first box kick charged down, looked too eager to kick away and was flattened by Koroibete."
Rugby Pass 5.5/10: "Unceremoniously hooked by Jones shortly before the break after a mixed display in which he was unable to conjure much from some scrappy possession."
DID YOU KNOW? At age 11 he was invited to join the Academy at Sheffield Wednesday Football Club where he formed a strike partnership with Jamie Vardy
#2.Guy Porter
Age: 25
Position: Centre
The Leicester Tigers back was targeted by the Wallabies during the third test, and ultimately failed to make any impact with the ball in hand in either game. He may drop out of the squad in the Autumn withHenry Slade and Manu Tuilagi expected to return from injury.
Telegraph 5/10: "Missed tackles as Australia seemed to target him, with the slip on Koroibete leading to the opening try. Hard to say as a result whether he’ll be back in the autumn."
Inews 6/10: "Australia had plenty of joy attacking his outside shoulder in the first half with England’s defensive line in disarray but tightened up significantly after the break. Not much to shout about going forward "
Rugby Pass 5.5/10: "Bounced off by Marika Koroibete during the lead-up to Australia’s try and missed five of his 17 tackles in the no.13 channel."
DID YOU KNOW? He moved with his family to Australia at the age of seven before going onto captain Sydney University
#3. Jonny Hill
Age: 28
Position: Second-row
We didn't agree with The Telegraph's assessment and Inews clearly didn't either. Hill was titanic. Rugby pass also gave the second-rower an 8/10.
Telegraph 5/10 (later changed to 6): "‘Mr Popular’ in Australia. Officials were hot on any cynical play, with Hill penalised for holding onto Nic White early after a tackle. Good lineout disruption though led to Smith’s try."
Inews 9/10: "Titanic display from England lock. Won high pressure lineout in Australia’s 22 and played key role in disrupting throw that led to Smith try. Was also a pest at the breakdown and put in some huge tackles late on."
🏏 Second-row Jonny Hill celebrating an England try at the Sydney Cricket Ground by steaming in to bowl is pretty special. Never change, Jonny. #AUSvENG
