World Rugby rankings updated after Springboks defeat All Blacks

South Africa bounced back from defeat in the opening Test of Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series to level things at 1-1 and reclaim their place as the number one side in the world.

Although the hosts were outscored four tries to three, Cheslin Kolbe proved decisive from the kicking tee.

The Springbok star landed four penalties and converted all three of his side’s tries, scored by Jesse Kriel, Damian de Allende and captain Siya Kolisi.

The result sees South Africa climb back above New Zealand, with the Springboks now sitting on 93.39 ranking pointscompared to the All Blacks' 92.85.

Elsewhere, Australia have also made a significant move after holding off a fierce Argentina comeback to claim a 27-21 victory over Los Pumas.

That result has seen the Wallabies leapfrog Argentina into seventh place.
