Leicester Tigers have confirmed that England scrum-half Jack van Poortvliet has signed a new contract with the club.
The academy graduate has committed his future to Tigers after previously signing a new deal in December 2024. He is also part of England’s Elite Player Squad (EPS).
Van Poortvliet started all three of England’s Nations Championship matches this summer, facing South Africa, Fiji and Argentina while Alex Mitchell was sidelined through injury.
He came off the bench in each of England’s final three Six Nations matches earlier this year and has earned almost 30 international caps.
In June 2025, he was also called up to the British & Irish Lions training squad for their match against Argentina during the 2025 tour.
The 25-year-old has made 118 appearances for Leicester since making his debut in 2019, aged just 18. He was also part of the Tigers squad that won the Gallagher PREM title in the 2021-22 season.
Head coach Geoff Parling named van Poortvliet as a vice-captain alongside Ollie Chessum ahead of the current campaign.
The scrum-half is set to make his fourth consecutive start in PREM Rugby this weekend when Leicester host Northampton Saints at a sold-out Mattioli Woods Welford Road.
Van Poortvliet said, "I grew up supporting Leicester, it's always been my club.
This place feels like home in my rugby life. The club is in a really good position, I think we have a great group of lads and great coaches."
"I love playing rugby here, I have my best mates here and I believe that we've got a group of lads that we can do great things with. I want to be in a place that I love playing for and I believe can win trophies."
"It was a pretty easy decision to stay. I love it here and long may that continue."
Parling added, "Jack is a brilliant player, developed through our academy, and an important leader in our group."
