RUMOUR | Leicester Tigers leaver linked with shock Exeter switch

Exeter Chiefs will recruit a player who will have “everyone licking their lips” later this month, says director of rugby Rob Baxter.

The news of another addition came as the Chiefs announced the signing of 20-year-old Australian fly-half Jack Walsh.

“Jack isn’t the only newcomer coming in. Interestingly, we have another name who we will be announcing in a week or two’s time whose name will have everyone licking their lips,” Baxter told the club website.

According to RUCK sources, Chiefs are closing in on former Leicester Tigers flanker Jordan Taufua after agreeing on a deal this week.

The 28-year-old only joined Leicester last November and played just nine games for the Midlands club before the season shutdown.

He became popular with supporters, according to a Leicester Mercury report in January which quoted the backrower as saying: “I’m definitely settling into life with Leicester. The passion that the fans show is unreal. In my first game at Welford Road I don’t think I’ve ever played in front of a crowd like that, even back home in NZ.’’

Taufua, who joined Leicester after helping Tasman win the 2019 Mitre 10 Cup title, has been linked to Beziers but we now believe he will be staying in the Gallagher Premiership.
