Bath were reportedly close to pulling off the double signing of Saracens and England stars Alex Lozowski and Ben Spencer.
Their move for Lozowski, which will see them pay a transfer fee around £100,000, is thought to be nearly complete.
At 26-years-old the five cap England international, who can play at centre, fly-half, wing and full-back looks to be entering his peak years making him an enticing prospect for directors of rugby up and down the land.
However, their loan move for Spencer is now in doubt as Newcastle make their move to bring him on loan to Kingston Park.
Stuart Hooper’s side have been linked with scrum halves repeatedly this season with Will Chudley out of contract at the end of 2019/20.
