RUMOUR | World Player of the Year lined up for shock Premiership switch

Harlequins are reportedly eyeing World Player of the year Pieter Steph du Toit as a possible replacement for departing Chris Robshaw, according to The Rugby Paper.

A reliable RUCK source suggests the Springbok is interested in a move to the Gallagher Premiership and the 27-year-old was being lined up by Saracens before their salary cap scandal, which led to their relegation, hit in the Autumn.

Despite Quins interest, the flanker, who was voted World Player of the Year following the Springboks World Cup triumph, is nevertheless reportedly under contract until 2021.

According to reports in South Africa, it’s expected that he will definitely head to the northern hemisphere, but only after the British & Irish Lions tour next year.

However, if Quins’ decide to make him their number one target, they could offer a transfer fee to try to encourage the Super Rugby franchise to release the back-rower a year early.
