Sale Sharks Peter Stringer signs new deal

  • The 38-year-old joined Sale after leaving Bath in 2014
  • Stringer has been capped 98 times by Ireland
Sale Sharks scrum-half Peter Stringer has signed a one-year extension at the Aviva Premiership club this morning.

The 38-year-old, who won 98 Ireland caps during an illustrious international career, has been a key figure for the Sharks since joining last May, initially on a one-year deal.

Stringer previously played 230 times for Munster and has also represented Saracens, Newcastle and Bath in the Aviva Premiership.

“I’m delighted to have agreed a new deal. I am loving my rugby at Sale Sharks,” he said.

“It’s a great environment and we have some very talented players at the club.”

He left The Rec last season after struggling to secure a regular place in the side and has been a regular performer for Sale.

“Peter is a model professional who is incredibly fit and shows no signs of getting old,” Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond told the club’s official website.

“He has brought our backline to life this season.

“He is a very well respected member of our squad and the younger lads have all benefited from Peter being here.”
