England flanker Sam Underhill stood his ground during the clash with Italy after suffering a bleeding ear, refusing to leave the field despite being told to do so by referee Luc Ramos.

As blood ran from his ear, Ramos instructed Underhill to go off for treatment, but the England forward pushed back.
“You are a ref. I’m sorry, I’m staying out here for this one — you are not a medic, you are a ref,” Underhill told him.
Underhill had only just been called into the starting side as a late replacement for Tom Curry, who limped out during the warm-up ahead of the Six Nations match.
He went onto have an absolute stormer before being yellow carded in the second half.
