Mark McCall would never consider starting Maro Itoje ahead of Ben Earl in the back-row. Starting as captain, Earl was exceptional once again this weekend, setting up the winning try as the men in black overcame Northampton Saints.
When asked about a potential England recall, he said: “I’d love to be involved if Eddie Jones wants me. I am competing with so many good players and all I can do is keep playing as well as I can and hope that opportunity comes along at some point.”
