LIST: 5 of the funniest rugby players of all-time

Today, we're having a look at the

funniest rugby players.

Rugby has its fair share of serious characters, but there are some humorous men running around on the field every week.
In this day and age we have easy access to the players and can tell who is funny or not. They aren't the only funny ones though, as are players in the past.
These players have some pretty funny quotes but can also make us laugh in other ways. Sometimes we laugh at them and sometimes with them.
Here are the five of the funniest rugby players

#5. Max Lahiff

Lahiff, who unsurprisingly is a bit of a cult hero at Bristol Bears, delivered an interview that was fantastic and bizarre in equal measure last season. In an interview that almost seemed like a parody, the forwardwent full David Brent/Alan Partridge when discussing the upcoming clash with Wasps.
Starting off by describing Wasps as a "team of real mavericks", the prop forward goes onto describe his performance in his last match as follows:
"I was running around, talking to my ancestors, I was missing lungs. Man, I was battling.com. You know, one of those real personal grind-outs."

#4. Jason Leonard

One of the games greatest storytellers, 'fun bus' is an absolute legend
Here's one of our favourite stories:
"Just before we headed out to the 1995 World Cup in South Africa, all the players agreed on a booze ban when coach Jack Rowell discovered that someone had come in at 2am. He accused me at training the next day and I flatly denied it. As I told Martin Bayfield standing next to me: “It couldn’t have been me Bayf – I didn’t get in until 4am.” Poor Bayf just burst out laughing.

#3. Andy Powell

Never far away from controversy, the Welshman was thrown out of Wales’ Six Nations squad on this day in 2010 after driving a golf buggy on the M4 motorway while unfit through drink.
Powell had played in Wales’ 31-24 victory over Scotland in Cardiff and celebrated into the early hours of the following morning.
The 28-year-old was taken into custody with another man after the golf buggy was taken from the Vale Resort where the Wales team were based for the Six Nations Championship.
For this, he will never be forgotten.

#2. Nick 'Honey badger' Cummins

Who else? He's definetly one of the funniest rugby players, who is known for his colourful language. Here are some of his best quotes.
1. "The flamboyant French? They look all right. They have a good style about them with their hairdos. I might take a few pointers and go to a stylist to sort myself out. A few of the boys tell me I look a bit ordinary at times.”
2. “Sweatin’ like a gypsy with a mortgage, actually.”
3. “My old man woke me up in the morning. He was going off like a bag of cats.”
4. “I’m gonna have a truckload of pudding and uh, old mum’s good on the cook too so, dad’s got the tucker ready over there and mum and dad are gonna work together and form a massive feed and err, I’m gonna come in and dominate it.”
5. “Last year we were all sizzle and no steak, but now we’re off like a brides nightie.”
6. “When you come into this sort of game you’ve got to show the patience of the Dalai Lama initially in order to get that gig and when it comes round be ready to strike. Tonight, unfortunately, wasn’t the night for us.”

#1. Joe Marler

The popular bearded and mohicanned prop bucked the boring interview trend in spectacular fashion by previewing Harlequins’ next Champions Cup outing through the lens of a drawn-out horse metaphor that delighted the internet, where it was lauded as the best sporting interview of all time.
“I wasn’t hurting as much as the lads who were out there but I definitely felt it and I know how hard the boys have taken that,” he began. “They will be disappointed with the account that we put out but we have got another week to get back on the horse.”
So far, so sporting cliche. But then things took a turn for the bizarre.
“And take that horse to the water, and you can ask that horse, you can say, ‘Hey, horsey, do you want to have a drink or do you want to swim’,” he said. “It’s up to that horse to then realise what he wants to do in his life. That horse, at the moment, wants to go out on Saturday, he wants to clippity-clop all the way to The Stoop and he wants to say hello to those fans.”
