One or two nice involvements against Wales, but Beale was guilty of drifting across sideways in attack. His kicking, particularly in the second half, was poor too. Beale was either too long — which just gifted possession away — or, as the minutes ticked by and the Wallabies attempted to chase the game, his chip kicks simply had the same effect when they needed to run the ball.

Ireland’s most revered flanker needed this more than anyone. He passed smartly, was pinged for a high tackle, but was sadly forced off with what looked like a serious injury to the forearm after 38 minutes. It was disappointing to see.
