Rugby List Top 10: The heaviest players in the world 2019

Nobody ever claimed rugby was the fairest of games.

The stars of the game may differ in weight by as much as 15 stone, with players ranging from as little as 10 stone up to nearly 25, but that's what makes the sport the compelling contest that it is.

Here, RUCK takes a look at the 10 biggest international players playing in the world right now:

10. Ramiro Herrera - 20st 6lb

he gigantic Herrera has established himself on the international scene. A 6'3" powerhouse, he looks like he has been helped by a steak or two from his native Argentina.

9. Horatiu Pungea - 20st 6lb

Romanian prop Pungea is a seriously intimidating presence in their squad and, true to character, he will never back down from any battle

8. Leeroy Atalifo - 20st 6lb

The Fijian weighs in at a massive 287 pounds. Atalifo also works as a firefighter for the National Fire Authority in Fiji.

7. Tomas Francis - 20st 6lb

The rising Welsh star anchors down the scrum with an impressive 20 stone and six pounds.

6. Nemani Nadolo - 21st 4lb

The only winger in the world of his size. It's no surprise he's often compared to the great Jonah Lomu.

4. Will Skelton - 22st

The big Australia second row measures in at a whopping 6ft 8 and 22 stone! The 25-year-old has a fairly big size advantage over his opponents.

3. Biyi Alo - 22st 7lb

The 23-year-old prop is the heaviest player ever to play in the Aviva Premiership. Starting his career at Saracens, Alo made the move to Worcester last summer and has so far has failed to get himself into England head coach Eddie Jones plans.

2. Uini Atonio - 22st 11lb

The monster French prop was for a long time the heaviest player in world rugby. Atonio, who was born in New Zealand, is 6ft 6 tall and is a daunting prospect when faced in the scrum or trying to try take down!

1. Walid Maamry - 25st 2lb

For weighing in at 25st 2lbs and taking the tape measure to 6ft 7ins, tighthead prop Walid Maamry is the heaviest player in the professional game. The Toulon front-rower is just 17 years of age and has yet to make his bow in the paid ranks for the Champions Cup heavyweights, but has been tipped to break into the side this season.
