Ranked! The 10 most hated people in rugby

This isn’t a list of people we here at RUCK personally hate - although some of the people here are definitely off our Christmas card list - but rather who stir up opprobrium in the game.

Swearing at referee’s, involving himself in scraps and eye gouging accusations have all led to the England hooker becoming one of the most vilified rugby players of the modern era. His reputation has somewhat recovered in recent years

Is a very good referee but gets under the skin of a lot of fans, especially of the Welsh persuasion.

– Stamping on players heads

– Gouging another player

-Faking injuries

– Generally being an absolute shithousenull

It is easy to forget that, prior to his catastrophic performance in the 2011 World Cup final, Joubert was considered one of the best referees in world rugby. Since then, his performances have been on a downward trajectory, culminating in the display which contributed to Scotland's crushing quarter-final exit to Australia. He's since retired, but it seems unlikely Joubert will be heading back to Scotland anytime soon.

How has it come to this? Twenty years ago John Inverdale was respected and admired. Now look at him at the bottom of another mass pile-on, pilloried all over social media and the press for being at best a berk, at worst a serially sexist buffoon.

Pape decided to dedicate a portion of Stade’s clash with Edinburgh to his unending pursuit of shithousery.

You may remember that it was Pape who also thrust his knee into Jamie Heaslip’s back,  leaving the Irish No. 8 with fractured vertebrae.

Well, his next defining moment was when Edinburgh’s wonderfully-named Phil Burleigh was sent-off for slapping Pape in the face. While childish, it wasn’t exactly forceful. Nonetheless, poor Pascal felt its brute force, and threw himself to the ground.

 It seemed unlikely when he retired that Healey would manage to become even more annoying as a pundit than he was as a player. But, somehow, he's achieved it. Great job. Do love his Twitter spats though...

The outspoken journalist never fails to wind up fans. His 'all-time XV' earlier this year was also very controversial.

The former England outside-half and Sky Sports commentator can often be found not just winding up fans but players too!

The Australia and Waratahs full-back avoided punishment for saying homosexuals should go to “hell”unless they “repent their sins and turn to God”. This sort of backwards thinking doesn’t belong in rugby!
