Tom Varndell has signed for French ProD2 team Soyaux Angoulême XV Charente on a two-year deal according to reports.
The club finished 13th in France’s 16 team second-tier last season, after winning promotion to the league ahead of the 2016/17 season for the first time in their history.
The all-time top Premiership try-scorer left Bristol Rugby in March this year to join Pro14 finalists Scarlets.
In a recent interview Varndell explained how he felt like he could play on for another two seasons.
“I believe I can do two more seasons at my best level, but we’ll see.
“I would love to experience going abroad and playing a little bit but I’m just focused on finishing this season, finishing it healthy, working hard in the off season to stay in shape and see what happens.”
Soyaux Angouleme have also signed Worcester Warriors prop Biyi Alo from the English top flight.
