Transfer News: Michael Hooper signs record deal

Wallabies skipper Michael Hooper has committed his future to Rugby Australia after signing a new five-year deal for $6 million.

The news was reported by Daily Telegraph on Thursday with the 26-year-old’s earning now equating to $1.2 million per year according to the new contract making him the richest contracted player with the board.

Hooper, who will lead Michael Cheika’s side in the upcoming Rugby Championship tournament has committed himself to be with the Australian side until 2023 that will see him feature in two more World Cups in 2019 and 2023.

He also becomes the second ever Australian player to pen a five-year deal after Lote Tuqiri did in 2007.
