Transfer Rumours: Leicester legend joining Premiership rivals

Leicester Tigers legend and Samoa international Logovi’i Mulipola is set to stay in the Aviva Premiership after turning down offers from France.

The 31-year-old, who has made well over 100 appearances since joining the Tigers in 2013, will sign a one-year deal with the Newcastle Falcons according to the latest issue of The Rugby Paper.

Mulipola has become a favourite but has been unable to agree on a new deal at Welford Road and reportedly had offers from France with the likes of Castres and Grenoble interested in his signature.

However, it appears now that the powerful front-rower will be heading Kingston Park to join Dean Richards men after his summer holidays.

The prop collected his first Aviva Premiership title with Leicester Tigers in 2013 after starting the Final win at Twickenham.

Perhaps his most memorable moment in a Tigers shirt came in winning the club’s Try of the Season award in 2013/14 for a score against Exeter Chiefs at Welford Road while also being shortlisted for ITV Try of the Season and being named in the BT Sport Team of the Year.

Before joining Tigers, Mulipola went to the 2011 Rugby World Cup with Samoa, playing as a replacement against South Africa, though he missed the 2015 tournament due to injury.
