Another Premiership club could be set to adopt artificial pitch

Bath Rugby are keeping all options open when it comes to what the playing surface would be made out of at their proposed new stadium at the Rec.

It could be grass, a partly synthetic or fully synthetic pitch with the potential to be used by the community outside the 18-20 matchdays the club hold per season.

Bath Rugby plan to appoint a lead architect in January to design “something exceptional in the heart of Bath” which could revitalise the riverside and help the long-term financial sustainability of the club.

They aim to submit a planning application to Bath and North East Somerset Council by the end of 2018.

Today, a new website called a Stadium for Bath has been launched which will be home to information, updates and give people the chance to share their views on the plans as they progress.
