Billy Vunipola doubtful for Fiji Test

  • Billy Vunipola is a doubt for England’s Test with Fiji on Saturday
  • The Number eight suffered a knock during Saturday’s win against South Africa and will miss the next two days training
  • Dave Attwood has had an injection in his knee and has returned to Bath
England number eight Billy Vunipola will not be able to train until Thursday after suffering an unspecified injury.

Vunipola missed training on Monday and according to an RFU spokesman would do the same on Tuesday due to a knock, with England then taking a rest day on Wednesday.

The Saracens back-row is however set to stay in camp as England prepare for Saturday’s November Test against Fiji at Twickenham.

Vunipola was involved in a huge collision with South African second-row Eben Etzebeth, with the Springbok going off with a concussion. The lock has since having been ruled out of South Africa’s game with Italy this weekend in Rome.

Second-row Dave Attwood will also be unavailable after undergoing treatment on a knee injury before returning to his club, Bath.

Attwood’s club team-mate, Charlie Ewels, will be the remaining lock option in the squad along with last Saturday’s starters Joe Launchbury and Courtney Lawes.
