"Someone do something" – Louis Rees-Zammit reveals nasty burns

The 25-year-old winger took to Instagram to share a picture of the damage to his leg following Saturday's Gallagher PREM clash.

And he wasn't happy.

"Can we please stop playing on these Astroturf pitches!! Someone do something about it!!" he wrote.

The incident has once again raised questions about artificial surfaces in professional rugby, with players regularly suffering painful friction burns.

Bristol fell to a 30-7 defeat at Saracens, but the condition of the playing surface became another talking point.

Bears director of rugby Pat Lam had already expressed concerns about the pitch, revealing that Pedro Rubiolo, AJ MacGinty and Steven Luatua were left out of the match because of the surface.

Rees-Zammit's frustration will only add fuel to the debate.

Artificial pitches are used by several professional clubs, with supporters pointing to their durability and ability to withstand poor weather.

However, critics have long questioned their impact on player welfare, particularly when it comes to skin abrasions and potential injuries.

With one of Welsh rugby's biggest names now demanding change, the issue is unlikely to disappear quietly.
