All Blacks superstar Damian McKenzie has been linked with a shock move to France, with Top 14 side Lyon reportedly interested in signing the playmaker.
The 31-year-old is contracted to New Zealand Rugby until 2029, but a surprise clause in his deal could open the door to a move overseas.
According to French publication Midi Olympique, Lyon have a significant budget available to recruit a versatile back.
McKenzie is reportedly among the names under consideration.

Contract clause opens door

Despite committing his future to the All Blacks, McKenzie reportedly has the option to take a one-year sabbatical following the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
That could allow him to spend a season in France before returning to New Zealand.
Nothing has been agreed, and there is no confirmation that formal negotiations have taken place.
But McKenzie would be some signing.
Capable of playing fly-half or full-back, the Chiefs star has built a reputation as one of rugby's most exciting attacking talents.
And he already knows what life overseas looks like, having previously spent a season in Japan.
