Ireland have confirmed two high profile players are out of the 2026 Guinness Men’s Six Nations pre-tournament camp, as Bundee Aki and Hugo Keenan will not remain at the base in Quinta do Lago, Portugal.
Ireland take on France in Paris next Thursday to kick off the competition, with Aki’s disciplinary hearing and Keenan’s thumb fracture keeping the two out of contention for now.

The Irish Rugby Football Union confirmed the development regarding Bundee Aki today, as the Connacht centre faces a disciplinary hearing. This follows alleged breaches of misconduct towards United Rugby Championship match officials after the inter-provincial defeat to Leinster last Saturday in Galway.
In a brief statement, the IRFU reiterated its stance on standards of behaviour, making clear that any form of disrespect towards match officials is not tolerated and that actions falling below the expectations of those representing Irish rugby will be dealt with accordingly. No further comment will be made while the investigation remains ongoing.
Aki’s absence has resulted in a call-up for Ulster centre Jude Postlethwaite, who is yet to make his senior international debut. The 22-year-old will now link up with the squad in Portugal as cover in the midfield.
There was further disruption for Andy Farrell’s squad, with Hugo Keenan forced to return to Ireland after suffering a fractured thumb during a training session on Tuesday afternoon. The full-back’s injury status will be assessed on his return.
The news follows confirmation earlier today that Aki is set to undergo a disciplinary review, with the outcome yet to be determined.
