Eddie Jones in contemplating a number of changes ahead of Italy clash
The Aussie had Ben Te’o and Elliot Daly linking up in the centre today
Jamie George and Jonny May are also pushing for starts at Twickenham
England head coach Eddie Jones promised changes for the Six Nations clash with Italy next weekend, and it appears the Aussie is set to trial an exciting all-new midfield combination.
The side held an open training session in front of over 12,000 at Twickenham on Friday morning, with Jones making one or two personnel changes in anticipation of a rotated team to face Conor O’Shea’s side next Sunday.
Worcester centre Ben Te’o, who has made two imposing replacement appearances thus far, and Elliot Daly were partnered together in the centre. They looked impressive, with very different skill sets blending well.
This means England’s general and goalkicker Owen Farrell, who is tipped to captain the side next weekend, would take George Ford’s place at fly-half with Gloucester speedster Jonny May coming on the wing to partner Jack Nowell on the flanks.
It’s still unknown whether England skipper Dylan Hartley will start, but with Jamie George impressing in Cardiff, the Saracens hooker may get the nod ahead of the captain.
