England held on for a 51-43 win against the Barbarians after a thrilling match at Twickenham today.
England player ratings vs Barbarians:
15. Simon Hammersley: Has so much pace. Finished off a try straight from the Barbarians handbook. Sale Sharks fans will be excited to see him in a blue shirt next season! 7.5/10
14. Piers O'Connor: A quieter performance than O’Conor would have liked, with not too much of England’s attacking success coming when they moved the ball to the right wing. 6/10
13. Joe Marchant: What a performance. Beat 12 defenders and . made 82 metres with his twinkle toes. A genuine contender to be a World Cup bolter for England. 8/10
12. Johnny Williams: The centre is too good to play in the Championship next season. Made more metres than anyone else in a white shirt and took his try well. 8/10
11. Joshua Bassett: Opened the scoring with a superb finish. However, he was also comfortably burnt by the considerable speed of Filipo Nakosi. 7.5/10
10. Marcus Smith: Had an absolute stormer. Kicked superbly (9/9 from the tee), assisted a class try before scoring his own. Also managed the game well. Hard to believe he's still just 20. A future England regular for sure! 9.5/10
9. Alex Mitchell: Has the lot. Faded a bit in the second half but the scrum-half is the real deal. 7.5/10
1.Ross Harrison: Harrison was consistently being marched back at the scrum by a fired-up John Afoa. 6.5/10
2. Tom Dunn: The hooker was consistent at the lineout and made a number of powerful carries. 7/10
3. Ehren Painter: Impressed in tight and loose. 7/10
4. Elliot Stooke: Increasingly hyperactive around the field in defence and attack — harassed Scotland throughout. 7/10
5. Josh Beaumont: Like his old man led England with class and made 10 tackles. 7.5/10
6. Alex Dombrandt: Undoubtedly our man of the match and got the try his performance deserved late on. He's an outside bet for the Rugby World Cup. 9.5/10
7. Ben Curry: Effective at breakdown. Probably didn't do enough to impress Eddie Jones. 7/10
