England have missed out on Shaun Edwards once again after the highly respected defence coach agreed to join Argentina ahead of the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
The 59-year-old, who has won seven Six Nations titles during spells with Wales and France, will work alongside Felipe Contepomi as Los Pumas prepare for next year's tournament in Australia.
His appointment ends speculation over a potential reunion with English rugby, having recently taken up a short-term role with the Red Roses.
Former Argentina head coach Mario Ledesma is also joining Contepomi's coaching staff, giving Los Pumas two experienced additions ahead of the World Cup.
Edwards was upon the Welsh coaching ticket for four Six Nations titles, and the French set-up for the most recent three triumphs in the annual tournament.
Fuel was added to Edwards potential future with Steve Borthwick's England team, after Edwards joined up with the England Women's team, the Red Roses, on a short-term consultancy role.
This followed the former Rugby League man's decision to depart the France national team, following a successful stint alongside Fabien Galthie and Les Bleus, from 2020 to 2026.
Edwards will not join up with Steve Borthwick and the England men for the 2027 Rugby World Cup, and will instead be the Defensive Coach for Felipe Contepomi's ever-improving Argentine outfit.
