“Former Barbarian” – Harlequins Confirm Signing of Bath Scrum-Half Max Green

Harlequins have confirmed the signing of former Bath Rugby scrum-half Max Green, ahead of the 2023/24 Premiership season. Green heads to the Stoop after six seasons at the Rec, after making his debut in blue, black and white in 2017.

Green made his Bath debut in the 2017/18 Anglo-Welsh Cup, with an off-the-bench appearance in a win over London Irish. He went on to play in every match of that competition, before Bath were beaten by Exeter Chiefs in the final. Throughout his time with Bath, Green has made 33-first team caps, and went out on loan to the Championship’s Channel Islanders Jersey Reds in 2020/21, and Bristol Bears in 2021/22.

The 27-year-old also previously played for Yorkshire Carnegie, in his breakthrough season before signing with Bath. Green has also achieved international honours, as he ran out for the England U20s during his early career. Green will wear the famous quarters for a short-term deal, after he previously donned the iconic black and white stripes of the Barbarians. Green played for the invitational side in an exhibition contest against Samoa last August.

Director of Rugby Billy Millard said: “Max has been with us over preseason and has impressed. He’s an experienced scrum-half who will add good depth to our squad.”

Commenting on his signing, Green added: “I’m very happy to have this opportunity with Harlequins. I love the style of rugby Quins play and I’m excited to make a strong impact.”
