"Wales U19s star" - Harlequins' academy graduate signs contract extension with the club

Schooled at Seaford College, Green represented Midhurst RFC before progressing into the Quins pathway. A Welsh international at age-grade level, Green has represented Wales Under-18, Under-19 and Under-20 level, gaining valuable experience in the international pathway.

Green made his senior debut for Harlequins during the 2022/23 Premiership Rugby Cup, featuring against London Irish at The Stoop where the lock marked the occasion with a try.

Since making his debut, Green has made 17 First Team appearances, which includes six in the Gallagher PREM. Green joins fellow pathway graduates, Ben Waghorn and Zach Carr in signing their first senior contracts this season.

“I’m really happy to be extending my future with the Club,” said Green. “I’m in my fourth year now and the first few years have been tough work, and I have been learning from everyone. Now I’m wanting to establish myself as a player that can be competitive within the squad.

“Harlequins were the Club I grew up watching. When I was in school, it was a huge goal of mine to play to play for Quins and to sign my first senior contract is a very proud moment.

“Where I learn most from players like Guido (Petti), Launch (Joe Launchbury) and Steph (Lewies) is on the pitch, mauling and training against them. We’ll always get stuck into each other but it’s really good to test yourself against players that are the best. They’re all internationals in their own regard and high-quality players, which can only help me and my future.”

Senior Coach, Jason Gilmore added: “Jonny is a hard-working lock who has come through the Club’s player pathway and shown real commitment to developing his game, particularly under the guidance of Adam Jones and Toby Booth this season.

“His growth over the past couple of seasons has been really pleasing, and we’re delighted to see him continue that journey with us as he looks to take the next step in his career.”
