“Great news” – Two Jersey players have signed with Premiership clubs

Leicester Tigers have added 26-year-old wing Ben Woollett to the club’s senior squad on a short-term deal.

Woollett’s opportunity in Dan McKellar’s group comes after his former club, Jersey Reds, unfortunately ceased trading earlier this week.

A towering wing standing at 6ft 5in, Woollett has been in outstanding form for Jersey in the past 12 months, playing a starring role in their Championship title win last season.

Meanwhile, Newcastle Falcons have added further physicality to their tight-five stocks with the signing of Jersey Reds second-rower John Hawkins.

The 26-year-old Englishman joins until the end of the 2024-25 season, having signed for RFU Championship winners Jersey in the summer.

Standing at 1.96m (6 foot 5) and weighing 117kg (18 stone 6), Hawkins previously played with Bristol Bears, for whom he made 47 first-team appearances.
