Warr played his junior rugby at Winnington Park RFC and Bowdon RFC before joining the Sharks Academy at the age of 14.

Gus played his school rugby at Tarporley High School, in Cheshire, before a move to the Dollar Academy, in Central Scotland, for sixth form saw him play age grade international rugby (under 18, 19 and 20) for Scotland.

Gus, who has also represented England at under 20 level, made his Premiership debut for Sharks against Harlequins at the Stoop in September, 2018, at the age of 18.

The 5’8” half back joined Doncaster Knights on loan at the end of the 2019/20 season, and then re-joined again on a dual-registry deal ahead of the 2021/22.

However, injuries at Sale Sharks saw him recalled and he went on to play a big part in the first half of the season, making five consecutive starts in the number nine shirt.
