Richards is a former England and British & Irish Lions No.8 who was regarded as one of the world's best players in his position with the ability to read the game and he also had extraordinary pace for a back-row forward.
He will often be remembered not just for his great teamwork but for his scruffy appearance on the field with his shirt un-tucked and his socks down by his ankles.
Moore said: "An evil Weights and Measures officer in Tour Courts, possessing of an unusual sense of humour and an almost photographic memory when it comes to playing cards. Another big drinker."

#2. Jason Leonard

The powerhouse was the youngest man ever to pack down in England's front row when he made his debut aged 22 against Argentina in 1990. Fourteen years later he retired as the only English player to rack up a century of Test appearances, and was for a time the world's most capped player.
Moore said: "The untidiest room-mate I ever encountered but another man with a contagiously bright outlook – oh, and he could probably outdrink most of the players on the planet."

#3. Martin Bayfield

Moore said: "A natural wit with the right touch of self-deprecation; a great raconteur and a counter to the lingering menace of his former team and police colleague in the second row – a sort of community touring officer."

#4. Wade Dooley

England second-row Dooley more than justified his nickname of "The Blackpool Tower". Standing at six feet eight inches tall and a Police Officer in Blackpool, Dooley amassed 55 England caps after making his debut against Romania in 1985.
Moore said: "You have to have someone who is happy to take a lot of stick without getting upset about it, and Wade did just that. However, he was also unexpectedly sharp in retort and was the author of most of the good nicknames that stuck to England players of his time. Plus, you have to have someone who could keep up with Jason Leonard’s drinking."

#5. Peter Winterbottom

Winterbottom was known for his work rate, durability, hard tackling and courage. He was selected on two British and Irish Lions tours in 1983 and 1993, both to New Zealand, where he impressed the locals with his fine play, albeit on losing sides.
Moore said: "A hard man in every sense: player, drinker, banter-merchant, and enormously loyal team-mate."
