Mike Brown picks his uncapped England back-three for summer tests

England’s most capped fullback of all-time Mike Brown has picked an uncapped back-three of potential future stars he’d like to see given a chance this summer.

Eddie Jones men are set to face the USA and Canada at Twickenham next month while there is also the return of an ‘A’ team to play their Scottish counterparts.

The two Tests will be at Twickenham on July 4 and 10 and the RFU expect at least 10,000 supporters to attend. England A will face Scotland A at Welford Road on June 27.

Brown wrote in the Mail Online: “English rugby is blessed with a depth of talent coming through at the moment, and slowly but surely several starlets are beginning to make a name for themselves.

“England need to find another winger who can play the physical role of Jack Nowell – someone who can step off their wing and get stuck in around the breakdown.”

Here’s who the 35-year-old Harlequins fullback picked in his potential back-three:

FULLBACK: Freddie Steward (Leicester Tigers)

  • Age: 20
  • Position: full-back
  • Club: Leicester Tigers

BROWN SAID: “He has the attributes of an old school full- back: high ball, one-on-one tackling, counter attack and a good boot. You need those fundamentals at Test level. He’s a big lump and he reminds me of All Black Jordie Barrett.”
