Shock reports last month suggested that England fullback Freddie Steward could quit Premiership champions Leicester Tigers.
The 21-year-old could take advantage of a break clause in his contract to leave Welford Road next summer, according to The Rugby Paper.
Their article suggested the ‘fullback who joined the Tigers from Norwich School could follow his fellow Red Rose stars George Ford and Ellis Genge out of the Welford Road exit door.’
Steward reportedly has a similar get out clause and is considering his future after contract talks broke down.
With Stuart Hogg out of contract at Sandy Park in 2023, Exeter Chiefs was one possible suitor that was mentioned.
However, RUCK sources suggest that Steward is the top target for Bristol Bears, who will let the Premiership’s highest-paid player Charles Piutau, who is also a fullback, leave next summer.
Pat Lam will look to freshen up his squad next summer with a number of big names set to leave Ashton Gate, including Piutau and potentially Kyle Sinckler.
Piutau is reportedly being lined up for a big-money move to France or Japan.
