Ban confirmed for Northampton Saints wing - set to miss two Champions Cup matches

Referee Ian Tempest issued the card after Todaro was deemed to have tackled or challenged an opponent in the air, namely Bristol fly half Sam Worsley. The offence falls under World Rugby Law 9.17, which covers tackling, charging, pulling, pushing, or grasping a player whose feet are off the ground. The 19-year-old Italian admitted the act of foul play during the hearing, resulting in a sanction that will see him miss Saints’ next two fixtures.

Todaro will be unavailable for Northampton’s opening rounds of the EPCR campaign, sitting out the 7 December 2025 clash with French side Pau before also missing the 14 December encounter against the Vodacom Bulls of Pretoria. His absence will be a frustration for Saints, who had been looking to give the young winger further opportunities after his promising rise through the academy system.

The disciplinary panel confirmed that the offence met the threshold for a red card, even under the 20-minute replacement law currently in operation, and determined that a two-match ban was proportionate given Todaro’s admission and disciplinary record.
