“Not in contention” – Eddie Jones had bad news for Billy Vunipola in his post-match interview

Danny Care’s chances of going to Australia with England appear slim following Eddie Jones post-match interview on Prime Video.

The head coach, speaking after his sides embarrassing 52-21 defeat to the 14-man Barbarians, talked up the performances of Tommy Freeman and Joe Cokanasiga before appearing to distance himself from Care.

Jones later revealed Billy Vunipola is not in contention for a call-up after he was knocked out during the Premiership final.

“He would be in contention if he was fit mate,” said Eddie.

“He was knocked out yesterday mate so will have a mandatory two week stand down. If he’s had concussions before that will be even longer,”

He also revealed Alex Dombrandt will see. a specialist in the morning after suffering a knee injury while things don’t look ‘too promising’ for George Ford after he limped out of the Premiership final.

Jones did suggest youngsters Tommy Freeman and Joe Cokanasiga had done enough to make the squad to Australia.
