REPORTS: Joe Marchant ‘in advanced talks’ to leave Harlequins

In search of a high-level international centre for next season, Stade Francais have entered advanced talks with England and Harlequins playmaker Joe Marchant.

According to information from Midi Olympique, Marchant and the capital club are in advanced contact.

The centre is a major pawn of the back lines of the England X: he had been involved five times in 2022, including four times as a starter during the last Six Nations Tournament.

His full England debut came ahead of the 2019 Rugby World Cup when he came off the bench in the win over Wales. He scored his first try in England’s final game before the World Cup against Italy.

In 2020, Marchant made the bold move to New Zealand as he joined the Auckland Blues as part of a playing sabbatical. He scored three tries in sevens games for the Blues.

Marchant celebrated his 100th appearance for Quins by scoring a brace of tries against the Sale Sharks in February 2021. He scored another two tries during Harlequins 43-36 victory over Bristol Bears in the Premiership Semi-Final and started the following week in the Premiership Final win over Exeter.

Was involved in all of England’s Six Nations matches in 2022 and was part of England’s Test series winning team in the 2022 Summer Tour, making his 13th appearance in the First Test.
