Like many great rugby stories, LooseHeadz began with a chat over a pint at the clubhouse bar. But this wasn’t about the game—it was about people. Conversations turned to friends and teammates who’d faced tough times, and a shared realisation emerged: too often, we don’t know how to help. LooseHeadz was created to change that.
"It wasn’t a conversation just about rugby; it was about the people we’d met through life who’d had a ‘life wobble’ and we never really knew how to support.
We couldn’t ignore the problem that was staring us in the face. We needed to help - and not just our mates, but the whole rugby community."
A Growing Movement
Today, LooseHeadz is rugby’s mental health charity, building a global community focused on tackling stigma and supporting wellbeing. With more than 1,300 clubs across 36 countries and a rapidly expanding network, it’s proof that the rugby world is ready to have these conversations.
What They Do
LooseHeadz equips clubs with the tools to support their own. Through its Partnership Programme, each club can appoint a “LooseHead”—a dedicated mental health lead trained to spot signs of struggle, start conversations, and guide people to the right support.
Support That Makes a Difference
The programme offers free access to online training for players and coaches, practical resources for clubs, and guidance on creating safe, open environments. From wellbeing check-ins to peer support groups, the focus is on making mental fitness part of everyday club culture.
Get Involved
Rugby is built on looking after your teammates. LooseHeadz takes that same principle off the pitch—helping clubs become places where people feel supported, understood, and never alone.
The programme is free and open to all clubs. Join the movement and access the full range of resources here:
