Competition: Get a Chance to Watch the Lions in Australia

Northampton's 20-year-old forward Henry Pollock is set to tour Australia with the British and Irish Lions this summer, but former England captain Owen Farrell, son of head coach Andy Farrell, has missed out.

Pollock's inclusion is a stunning, rapid ascent to the top of the game. The flanker, who only turned 20 in January, had played just one Premiership match before the start of this season.

Farrell, a three-time Lions tourist, has only recently regained full fitness with French side Racing 92. Despite his recovery, the 33-year-old had hoped to earn another Lions call-up.

In other surprising news, Ireland's first-choice fly-half, Sam Prendergast, misses out, with Scotland’s Finn Russell and England duo Fin Smith and Marcus Smith preferred as the stand-off options.

Wales are notably underrepresented with only scrum-half Tomos Williams and flanker Jac Morgan included, marking an all-time low for the Lions in terms of Welsh players.

Ireland captain Caelan Doris, who had been a near-certainty for selection and even a potential candidate for the captaincy, will miss the tour after sustaining a shoulder injury in Leinster's Champions Cup semi-final defeat to Northampton last weekend.

Meanwhile, England's Maro Itoje has been confirmed as captain of the 38-man squad, marking a late-career rise to a leadership role.

The Lions begin their schedule together on Friday, June 20, as they face Argentina in Dublin to get things started.
