All Blacks captain Ardie Savea faces ban after 'foul play'

The French camp are keeping a close eye on the disciplinary fallout from their opening match of the competition, with a decision still awaited over an alleged incident involving Savea.

Late on Sunday, the France delegation was reportedly still waiting to discover whether the citing commissioner would take action against the New Zealand skipper.

Savea is suspected of committing an act of foul play on France back-rower Marko Gazzotti late in the contest.

Should the citing commissioner decide there is a case to answer, disciplinary proceedings could be opened against the All Blacks star.

No decision had been confirmed by Sunday evening.

While awaiting any possible disciplinary outcome, France have now arrived in Brisbane ahead of their second Nations Championship fixture against the Wallabies.

Monday has been set aside for recovery following the bruising battle in Christchurch.

Fabien Galthié’s squad are scheduled to return to the training field at midday on Tuesday, with sessions taking place at St Joseph’s Nudgee College.

Ballymore Stadium, the usual training base of the Queensland Reds, is currently being used by the Wallabies as they prepare for the match.
