Sale Sharks hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie has been cleared to play after an independent disciplinary panel overturned his 20-minute red card following Saturday’s Premiership clash with Saracens (18th October).

Cowan-Dickie was initially shown red for a dangerous tackle involving contact with an opponent’s head, a breach of World Rugby Law 9.13. However, after a detailed review, the panel—chaired by Daniel Gore, alongside Becky Essexand Tony Wheat—decided the sanction should not stand.
The hearing, conducted on papers yesterday evening, included testimony from both players involved and an extensive analysis of multiple video angles. After weighing up all evidence and submissions, the panel determined that the red card was unwarranted.
In their conclusion, the panel stressed there was no criticism of the match officials, but that the decision to dismiss Cowan-Dickie was incorrect based on the evidence available.
As a result, Cowan-Dickie is free to play with immediate effect.
