England star Ben Earl could become the next high-profile player to walk away from rugby union, with TWO Super League clubs reportedly interested in securing his signature.
The 28-year-old Saracens forward has emerged as a potential target for Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves.
Earl has become one of Steve Borthwick's most important players. However, his long-term future in the 15-man game has attracted speculation.
The England international has openly admitted he would regret never trying rugby league.
With the 2027 Rugby World Cup approaching, a shock switch after the tournament has been suggested.
Ben Earl admits rugby league regret
Earl has made no secret of his love for the 13-man game.
Speaking to RugbyPass in April, the England star made a surprising admission about his sporting interests.
"I love league, I watch more league than union but I don't really know the ins and outs," he said.
The Saracens forward also revealed just how closely he follows the sport.
"I'm on every fantasy and every tipping competition. I'm a massive student of the game and picking people's brains all the time."
Perhaps most intriguingly, Earl admitted that never testing himself in rugby league could become a major career regret.
"I would have loved to do it. If someone said, 'what would be your one regret?' it would probably be not giving it a go at one point."
Those comments have added weight to speculation surrounding his future.
TWO clubs interested in England star
According to City AM, Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves have both considered a move for Earl.
The interest was first reported in May, with a potential approach after the 2027 Rugby World Cup suggested.
However, any deal would be far from straightforward.
Earl signed a new contract with Saracens in 2025, reportedly keeping him at the London club until 2029.
His importance to England could also complicate matters.
