England forced into changes as two injuries are confirmed

George Furbank had already been forced out of the squad before the match after developing appendicitis on the day of the game. He underwent surgery in South Africa and was replaced by Tom Roebuck.

Steve Borthwick's side were beaten 45-21 by the Springboks at Ellis Park and now turn their attention to Saturday's Round 2 Nations Championship clash with Fiji at Liverpool's Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Emmanuel Iyogun and Chandler Cunningham-South have been called into the England squad ahead of that fixture. Iyogun comes in for the injured Obano, while Cunningham-South replaces Murley.

Although the RFU has yet to provide official details on either injury, both players are expected to miss the remainder of the Nations Championship. Following the Fiji match, England have just one fixture left in the competition.

England will then travel to Argentina for their Round 3 Nations Championship encounter with Los Pumas at Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero.

The call-up of Cunningham-South in place of Murley is a notable move, given the two play very different roles. Murley is a winger, while Cunningham-South operates in the second row and back row.

Borthwick had already brought Roebuck into the squad following Furbank's withdrawal, increasing England's options out wide.

That may suggest he is comfortable with his current back-three depth, despite Freddie Steward now being the only specialist fullback available and still managing the injury that kept him out of the South Africa match.
