England once again came from behind at halftime in the Six Nations, securing a narrow victory against a determined Wales side at Twickenham.
Similar to their match in Rome a week ago, England found themselves trailing after Wales earned a penalty try and Alex Mann scored, putting them on the verge of a historic win at Twickenham.
However, Fraser Dingwall's try in the corner brought England within a point, and George Ford's penalty ultimately secured the win. Ford redeemed himself for not converting Ben Earl's first-half try.

15. Freddie Steward - 8
Great opening carry. Solid in the air, one of the world’s best under the high ball. Needs to buy some longer studs as he slipped into contact on a couple of occasions which halted his brilliant attacking ball returns.
14. Tommy Freeman - 7
Quieter first half by his standards. Gathered his composure. Great hit on Rio Dyer at 49 minutes, covered the ground at a rate of knots and flattened the wing into touch. Great tackle on Adams, stopped a try at 56 minutes. Great effort all round.
13. Henry Slade - 7.5
Covered Josh Adams out wide, and took over clearance kicks from Ford. Big dump tackle on Jenkins at the half hour mark. Lost the ball in contact after a brilliant spell in the midfield, his 67th min mishap briefly halted England, but the Chiefs man had a solid outing.
12. Fraser Dingwall - 6
Didn't get back onside following the Welsh restart and gave away a penalty. Out of position at 27 minutes, lucky that George North opted to kick with a big gap ahead of him. Flattened by George North, as he missed the tackle at 33 minutes. Try at 62 minutes as he capped off a series of short drives by collecting the ball and diving into the corner.
11. Elliot Daly - 7
Tried clever chip kicks in the early goings. Cleared the ball with a thumping drive down-field. Smashed into touch by Josh Adams, denied an early second half try. Great pick up to keep the ball alive for Fraser Dingwall’s try. Tackled Rio Dyer into touch right at the very end after a well read high ball.
10. George Ford - 8
Sent a clever chip down into touch. Had his conversion charged down in a bizarre first half altercation. Helped halt a 23rd mionute maul, with England winning a pen. Key tackle on Rio Dyer to send the winger into touch in a try scoring position. Missed the conversion to Dingwall’s try, and delivered a brutal up and under that no one could claim at 65 minutes. Stunning 50-22 put England in a strong position, kept England calm despite the set-backs.
9. Alex Mitchell - 8
Constantly barking orders to his forwards, and in the ear of the referee. Gamesmanship is very much apart of this rivalry and the halfback knew all the tricks of the trade. Quick ball distributed and good chip kicks. Off for Danny Care (68).
1. Joe Marler - 6
Given a talking to by the ref at 14 minutes, as he and the Wales tight-head jostled at multiple scrum re-sets. Gave away a scrum penalty for not pushing straight at 15, but regathered his composure as the scrum battle progressed. Off for Ellis Genge (50)
2. Jamie George (c) - 7
Throw not straight 13th minute, blemish on strong early line-out form. Strong scrummaging thoughout the contest and led his men well in his second outing as captain. Off for The Dan (71)
3. Will Stuart - 6.5
Key work to bring Rio Dyer down 22nd minute, Stopped the wing in a dangerous position. Strong scrummaging and threw his weight around the park with some heavy collisions. Off for Dan Cole (50)
4. Maro Itoje - 7.5
Commanded his pack and demanded the ball at the line-out. 17th minute - Huge hit and turnover on Ioan Llyod, as he lifts the Twickenham pack with a massive play. Outstanding in the air space.
5. Ollie Chessum - 6.75
Sent to the bunker after a high hit on Asseratti. Big on Dyer as he returns to play from sin bin, but then departs for HIA immediately after coming back on. Outstanding defensive effort to turnover the maul on the 5m line at 50 minutes.
6. Ethan Roots - 6
Collapsed the maul as Wales trundle towards the goal-line. Awarded a yellow card as Wales get a penalty try. Provided a new role as a line out jumper at the back. Spilt the ball after 47 minute re-start. Didnt have the best game to build on his MOTM performance v Italy, but put in strong hits around the pitch. Off for Alex Coles (72)
7. Sam Underhill - 7.5
Filled in well in the second row as Ollie Chessum and Ethan Roots were off the pitch. Strong early tackles, made the 11th minute hit on Assiratti but didn’t factor Chessum’s high hit that followed. He just flies into his tackles, dangerous in defence. Huge second hit on Asseratti. The prop stayed down after the second one. Off for Cunningham-South (63).
8. Ben Earl - 8.5
Strong option in the carry from the back of the scrum. Excellent performance and rightfully named man of the match. Try at 18 minutes, picked the ball from the back of the scrum and battled his way through three men with a fierce leg drive.
Replacements:
16. Theo Dan - 5.5
Given the job of upping the tempo to secure the win, Dan was introduced after George Ford had kicked his side into the narrow lead. The Saracen's nine minute run out saw him compete at the breakdown and retain the ball at the set-piece.
17. Ellis Genge - 7
Early scrums resulted in re-sets as the new England props took a while to adapt themselves. Genge then won a huge scrum penalty on the 60th minute, as he overpowered newcomer Archie Griffin. Strong in the carry, Genge's half hour effort puts him in contention for a start against Scotland.
18. Dan Cole - 7
Shown to be Frustrated by the early mishaps at the scrum, as there were repeated re-sets on the England 5m line following he and Genge's introduction. Cole then won a key scrum penalty at 57’ on England's 5m line, as he schooled the Welsh loose-head into hinging. A great effort as the veteran got the better of the young Welsh props.
19. Alex Coles - 6
Struggled to gain a tactile foothold in the match as he was introduced for Ollie Chessum and then withdrawn with the lock passing his HIA. Coles tried to make his first half minutes count with an impressive work rate, and returned to Twickenham for the final eight minutes in the place of Ethan Roots.
20. Chandler Cunningham-South - 7
On for Underhill just after the hour mark, and received an immense ovation from the Twickenham crowd. If Cunningham-South keeps maximising his minutes like he has done against Italy and Wales, then it won't be long until he is rewarded with his first test match start. Brilliant defensive work rate and provided a powerful carrying option on the front foot.
21. Danny Care - 5.5
On for Alex Mitchell with 12 minutes to go, it was hard for the Harlequin to up the tempo following Mitchell's blistering performance at scrum-half. Care steered the ship into the matches latter stages, and provided quick ball for George Ford to send to his recipients.
