Scotland superstar Finn Russell has opened up on his retirement plans, making it clear he has no intention of walking away from rugby anytime soon.
The 34-year-old fly-half is approaching the latter stages of his career, with next year's Rugby World Cup in Australia potentially his final appearance at the tournament.
However, the Bath Rugby star is refusing to put a date on his retirement.
Russell remains under contract at The Rec until June 2028 and believes he could still have several years left at the highest level.
Russell refuses to set retirement date
Speaking to Somerset Live in September, in comments subsequently reported by Rugbyrama, Russell explained that he was keeping his options open.
Asked about his future beyond the World Cup, he confirmed his current contract would take him through to summer 2028.
But the Scotland international has no plans to make an early retirement announcement.
"I don't want to set a date," Russell explained, before suggesting his career could continue for another year, 18 months or even four years.
He added: "I have no reason to stop anytime soon."
The fly-half insisted enjoyment would remain the deciding factor, rather than his age or the date of his final World Cup appearance.

Finn Russell has opened up about his future in rugby, with the Scotland star addressing when he could finally hang up his boots.
Family provides extra motivation
Russell has previously revealed that his young daughters are another reason he wants to extend his career.
Speaking in 2024, he admitted he would love them to grow up with memories of watching him play for Scotland.
"I've not got any notion of retiring any time soon," he said at the time.
He also joked that he might have to continue playing until he was 45 if he had another child.
The Scotland international has consistently insisted that he wants to keep playing while he remains competitive at the highest level.
Could Russell finish his career in France?
Russell's comments also raise questions about where he could eventually finish his career.
The former Racing 92 playmaker joined Bath in 2023 and has since established himself as one of the Gallagher PREM's biggest stars.
As RUCK previously reported, his latest agreement is reportedly worth at least £1million per season.
Speaking after signing that extension, Russell said:
"I have loved my time here at Bath. It's a great team and a great club."
However, with his contract expiring in 2028, another move cannot be ruled out.
For now, Russell's message is clear.
The 2027 Rugby World Cup will not necessarily be his final act, and retirement remains firmly off the agenda.
