A Who Wants to Be a Millionaire contestant was left red-faced after reportedly getting a question about England rugby legend Jonny Wilkinson wrong.
Sanjay Basu had told host Jeremy Clarkson that he was a big rugby fan.
But that confidence would soon be put to the test.
The contestant was reportedly making good progress on the ITV quiz show when a question involving the 2003 Rugby World Cup hero appeared.
And despite having four lifelines available, he decided to trust his own knowledge.
It proved to be a costly decision.

The £4,000 question

Sanjay was reportedly asked which of four famous British sportsmen had never received a knighthood.
The options were:
  • A: Jonny Wilkinson
  • B: Steve Redgrave
  • C: Chris Hoy
  • D: Andy Murray
The contestant selected Andy Murray.
Unfortunately for Sanjay, that was the wrong answer.
The correct answer was Jonny Wilkinson.
Despite his incredible achievements for England, the former fly-half has never been knighted.
Sanjay's incorrect answer reportedly ended his appearance, leaving him with £1,000.

Why hasn't Jonny Wilkinson been knighted?

Wilkinson remains one of England's greatest-ever rugby players.
He famously kicked the winning drop goal against Australia in the 2003 Rugby World Cup final.
He also enjoyed a remarkable club career with Newcastle Falcons and Toulon.
However, despite receiving a CBE, the former England international has never been awarded a knighthood.
In 2014, reports suggested Wilkinson was set to receive the honour following his retirement.
The rumours proved incorrect.
The former fly-half later clarified the situation.
Fans have continued to call for the World Cup winner to receive the recognition.
As RUCK reported in 2021, supporters questioned why one of England's most successful rugby players had been overlooked.
For Sanjay, that surprising piece of rugby trivia reportedly proved the difference between progressing on the show and going home with £1,000.
