Jonah Lomu's son reveals he doesn't want to play for the All Blacks

The son of All Black superstar Jonah Lomu has revealed he'd prefer to play for France if he goes onto follow in the footsteps of his legendary late father.

Dhyreille Jonah Lomu, who currently plays on the wing, was born in France during his Jonah's brief stint playing for Marseille, hence any eligibility discussions wouldn't be an issue.

Known as Frenchie at school in New Zealand, the aspiring youngster has already began to impress at a number of age-grade tournaments in New Zealand.

Despite being 10, he's already played in older teams as his obvious talent is beginning to shine through.

Lomu's stint in France came towards the end of the his career, which also included a stint with the Cardiff Blues in Europe.

Tragically, Lomu died in November 2015.

Playing on the wing Lomu finished his international career with 63 caps and 37 tries. He is regarded as the first true global superstar of rugby and consequently had a huge impact on the game

1. Louis Lynagh

The son of Wallabies legend Michael Lynagh, the fullback made his Premiership debut during the final round of the 2019/20 Gallagher season against Leicester Tigers. He is yet to declare his allegiance, but has represented England at age-grade, captaining England U16. and playing for the U18’s.

2. Manu Vunipola

Age: 20
Club: Saracens
Position: Fly-half
Dad: Elisi Vunipola (Tonga)

Vunipola comes from vintage rugby stock and is already well on his way to following in the footsteps of cousins Billy and Mako as part of the England U20s set-up. His dad, Elisi Vunipola, played in Super Rugby for the Brumbies, as well as appearing 41 times for Tonga – including at the 1995 and 1999 Rugby World Cups – and was his country’s most-capped player upon retirement in 2005.

3. Cameron Redpath

Age: 20
Club: Bath
Position: Centre
Dad: Bryan Redpath (Scotland)

The son of 60-times capped former Sale Sharks and Scotland scrum-half Bryan Redpath, who captained his country 26 times, Cameron was born in Narbonne, France. The 20-year-old, who recently joined Bath from Sale Sharks, is a very exciting prospect and has already served as an apprentice with the senior England squad

4. Jacob Umaga

Age: 20
Club: Wasps
Position: Fly-half
Dad: Mike Umaga (Samoa)

The surname Umaga carries a lot of weight in rugby. Mike Umaga won 13 caps for Samoa, while Tana is one of the All Blacks’ most respected captains. And it appears the name could live on with Jacob, son of Mike and nephew of Tana, who is seen as one for the future for England after being called up for the Autumn Nations Cup.
