The Chiefs skipper battled through an ankle injury but struggled to impose himself on the game in front of on-watching England head coach Eddie Jones with Exeter starved of the ball. The official stats state he missed six tackles as Chiefs fell to a 20-7 defeat to Bristol Bears. His Lions chances will depend on whether he can break into the England set-up, and on this evidence he probably won't in the near future.
