Not many players have rejected an approach from England head coach Eddie Jones to pull on the famous white jersey- apart from these three, doing so for various reasons.
1. Louis Rees-Zammit
Jones knew from an early stage the 20-year-old was a talent worth courting.
The wingers clinical finishing has been underlined by a haul of four tries in six Wales appearances, including two in the recent victory over Scotland, and Jones knew from an early stage the 20-year-old was a talent worth courting.
“I gave him a ring. I heard he was very Welsh and wanted to play for Wales and said if he was interested, we would be,” Jones said.
“He had to do five years qualification in terms of residency and a young guy like him is not going to sit around for five years.
“I wished him good luck and I’m pleased he’s doing well – I just hope he does not do too well against us."
2. Joe Marler
The loosehead prop has turned down numerous call-ups from Jones on numerous occasions, starting in 2016. He turned down a place on the tour to Australia following the infamous 'Gypsygate' saga, where he was fined £20,000 for his racial abuse of Wales rival Samson Lee.
Marler then most recently pulled out of the 2021 Six Nations squad, rejecting the call-up to spend more time with his family.
Speaking on Twitter, he said: "Always grateful for the opportunity so not an easy decision, but want to do right by my family in these crazy times and won’t be meeting up with the squad for this tournament.
"Look forward to watching the team rip in. Go well."
3. Cameron Redpath
Redpath was selected in England's 34-man squad for their 2018 summer tour of South Africa, but was unable to travel with the squad because of injury
After years of waiting, Jones revealed a recall for the 2021 SIx Nations was lose, but with no guarantee of game time from Jones, the centre accepted a call-up from Gregor Townsend to join the Scotland squad instead.
On 6 February 2021 he started for Scotland at Centre in the Calcutta Cup against England. Scotland won their cup final at Twickenham Stadium 11-6, and making 3 holds of the Calcutta Cup in 4 years.
