Newcastle Red Bulls have completed one of the headline signings of the season, snapping up explosive Blues No.8 Hoskins Sotutu in a move that sends shockwaves through the Prem.

As first reported by The Telegraph, the North East club have beaten heavyweights Saracens to the 27-year-old’s signature, landing the All Black on a multi-year deal that marks a huge statement of intent from the Red Bulls on and off the field.

Sotutu—who boasts 14 caps for New Zealand—is expected to link up with the squad either during pre-season ahead of 2026/27 or in November 2025, depending on when he’s officially released following the end of New Zealand’s NPC campaign. T

alks are still ongoing between the Red Bulls and the Blues regarding the exact timeline, but crucially, he won’t be arriving as a marquee player outside the salary cap.

Through his parents, he is also eligible to represent Tonga or Samoa (mother Samoan, father Tongan) — meaning he could, in theory, represent one of those nations by 2027 if he chooses not to rejoin the All Blacks.
