Prince Harry was booed by sections of the Welford Road crowd after appearing on the big screen during Leicester Tigers' Gallagher PREM clash with Gloucester on Friday night.
The Duke of Sussex was watching the action from the stands when cameras picked him out during the match.
But his appearance didn't go down well with everyone, with several supporters claiming boos rang out around the stadium.
The moment quickly became a talking point on social media, with fans sharing what they had witnessed.
Prince Harry booed at Leicester Tigers
One supporter wrote on X: "Prince Harry at Leicester rugby. Just showed him on screen and the crowd booed!"
Another, David Paxton, claimed the cameras quickly moved away from the Duke after the reaction began.
"Leicester vs Gloucester. Footage cuts to Prince Harry in the stands. Crowd starts to boo. Cuts away. Interesting."
A third fan simply posted: "Prince Harry getting booed."
It is unclear how many supporters joined in, but several accounts from inside the ground described a similar reaction.
The incident came as Leicester and Gloucester continued their Gallagher PREM campaigns, with the Tigers looking to build momentum in front of their home supporters.
The match was also being shown live on TNT Sports, with viewers taking to social media to discuss the unusual moment.
Prince Harry's rugby connections explained
Harry is no stranger to a rugby stadium.
The 42-year-old has followed the sport for years and previously served as patron of both the Rugby Football Union and Rugby Football League.
He took over the RFU role from his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, in 2016.
However, he gave up both patronages in 2021 after stepping back from royal duties alongside Meghan Markle.
As Sky Sports reported, the decision brought an end to his official involvement with the two governing bodies.
His passion for rugby has never been in doubt, though.
Harry has previously spoken about his admiration for the game's biggest names, including All Blacks icon Jonah Lomu and England World Cup winner Jonny Wilkinson.
He has also been a regular at major internationals over the years, particularly during his time as RFU patron.
His latest outing came at a club with a proud history in English rugby, with Leicester Tigers among the country's most successful sides.
For Harry, though, it was an appearance that attracted attention for reasons beyond the rugby.
And judging by the reaction online, supporters had plenty to say about it.
