Round 3: Six Nations team of the week after the third weekend of action, which saw Scotland, Ireland and France pick up wins against Wales, Italy and France Respectively.
Fullback: Hugo Bonneval - France
The Toulon man came away with the MOTM award for his performance in Marseille. He managed to get over for a try in the secondhalf and started a few French attacks with his dangerous running game.
Winger: Jacob Stockdale - Ireland
That's seven tries in seven Tests for Stockdale, who is some finisher! A fantastic combination of pace and footwork continues to flummox defenders.
Centre: Huw Jones - Scotland
What a player. Jones should be one of the marked men of world rugby, and yet England gifted him so much space to run into. His first try came from a slice of good luck as the ball bounced in his favour but the second was all about his sheer power and pace to hold off Anthony Watson and Mike Brown to score just before the break. Chris Farrell and Mathieu Bastareaud were excellent for Ireland and France respectively, but Jones was simply sensational.
Centre: Bundee Aki - Ireland
Winger: Sean Maitland - Scotland
Took his try well in the corner as be held off the covering defence of Jonny May to score. Ran hard when coming into the line and had two good runs at full tilt to try and make an impact
Fly-half: Finn Russell - Scotland
What a way to answer his critics. Everyone knows what you get with Russell, but this was certainly one of his good days and his footwork with the ball in hand and ability to unlock the English defence at will won the day. One low point when he passed to Hogg when a kick had been called, but apart from that it was a very good display.
Scrum-half: Maxime Machenaud - France
Arguably could have won the MOTM award tonight as his fantastic goal-kicking kept France in the lead. Ran the game well, moving his forwards around the field. Good box kicking turned Italy on their heels.
Prop: Cian Healy - Ireland
Prising the starting jersey away from Jack McGrath might just be the achievement of an already great career; his 54th minute try broke Wales and 15 other carries for 12 gruesome metres keeps him in possession of number one.
Hooker: Stuart McInally - Scotland
Solid darts from the 27-year-old who chipped in with 10 tackles and one incisive run that eventually led to Sean Maitland’s try. Honourable mention to Leonardo Ghiraldini who made 20 tackles in another loss for Conor O’Shea’s Italy.
Prop: Jefferson Poirot - France
The Bordeaux-Begles man was widely tipped to be a great addition to the French scrum during the week. He did not disappoint as they put it up to a strong Italian pack.
Lock: James Ryan - Ireland
An excellent return for the lock, who was a doubt going into this match after missing the game against Italy. Leaving Grant Gilchrist out is difficult after his impact for Scotland but Ryan is powerful in the close-quarters and is just an all-round excellent athlete. Following a superb Six Nations debut against France, the second-row produced another fine display, edging out Gilchrist and France’s Paul Gabrillagues.
Lock: Grant Gilchrist - Scotland
Carried emphatically in ¬the first half and had a notable presence about him, none more so than when he decided to take on Nathan Hughes in a first-half flare-up.
Flanker: John Barclay - Scotland
His work at the breakdown left England’s possession in tatters as he combined with the rest of the back-row to disrupt, turnover and penalise English ball repeatedly. A real captain’s showing.
Flanker: Dan Leavy - Ireland
It was a good weekend for the opensides. Hamish Watson outshone his opposite number Chris Robshaw at Murrayfield, Josh Navidi had the usual high level of tackles and Yacouba Camara was excellent for Les Bleus, but Dan Leavy gets the nod. The Leinster man has a huge appetite in the tight exchanges, made 12 tackles and helped win crucial turnovers with his body positioning at the breakdown.Scored crucial try right at the start of the second period under the posts. It was a hammer blow to Wales who were never able to recover.
Number 8: Marco Tauleigne - France
The new number 8 has made the shirt his own, despite calls for Picamoles to be brought back into the squad. He was France’s top ball carrier, making 76m from 17 carries. He was unlucky to not get over for a try after his huge linebreak in the 2nd half.
