Scotland Stars Childhood Sweetheart Moves In With His Close Friend After Marriage Breakdown

Jamie Ritchie has split from his childhood sweetheart and wife, Millie, after more than a decade together.

The former Scotland captain, 29, is set to return to Scotland at the end of the season after opening up about a “really difficult period” in his personal life.

Mail Online reports that the couple’s marriage ended abruptly last summer, just days before they were due to relocate to the south of France following Ritchie’s move from Edinburgh Rugby to USA Perpignan.

The pair had reportedly packed up their Edinburgh townhouse and secured a new home in France before deciding to separate at the last minute. Ritchie travelled to Perpignan alone, while Millie remained in Scotland with their children and family.

In a recent farewell message to Perpignan supporters, Ritchie explained his decision to leave the French club early and return home.

“It was a really difficult decision to make,” he said. “The club has been very welcoming, as have the fans, but it’s a personal decision I have made to be closer to my kids and my family.”

Mail Online also reports that Millie, 29, has since moved in with one of Ritchie’s close friends, who is understood to have also separated from his wife. The two couples had reportedly socialised together for several years.

Jamie and Millie had been together since they were both 15 after meeting by chance at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5. They married in 2021 and were widely regarded as one of Scottish rugby’s most enduring couples.
